ABSTRACT:
This paper presents a motion-based automatic door opening system designed to provide touchless and efficient access in public and commercial environments. The system utilizes a Passive Infrared (PIR) sensor to detect human presence, and a microcontroller such as Arduino Uno or 8051 to process the sensor output and execute control logic. Based on the detected motion, control signals are generated to drive a motor driver IC and an electric motor for smooth door operation. A timing-based mechanism ensures automatic closure in the absence of motion. The proposed system enhances user convenience, reduces manual effort, and improves hygiene while contributing to energy efficiency, making it suitable for applications in hotels, offices, hospitals, and shopping malls.
